Dorothy Marie Lingerski, 67, of Hanover, PA died on Sunday, March 25, 2007 at Village of Laurel Run Nursing Center, Fayetteville, PA.
She was born on December 8, 1939 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Sheridan and Josephine E. (Rolley) Beauseigneur.
A 1957 graduate of St Francis High School, Clearfield, Dorothy entered into the Sisters of St. Joseph, an Order of the Roman Catholic Church, at the Villa Maria Convent in Erie in June of the same year. She professed her vows taking the name of Sister Marie Bernarde in June 1960. She graduated from Villa Maria College with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and continued her graduate studies at St. Bonaventure University and Gannon College in administration and guidance. She taught in the Roman Catholic schools in the Erie Diocese for 22 years, at the Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown, PA and was Principal of the St. Bernard Elementary School in Bradford. She returned to secular life in 1979 and continued her teaching profession at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Elementary School in Hanover, PA.
She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Roman Catholic Church, Hanover and the National Catholic Educational Association.
She is survived by four sisters, Elizabeth Wilson of Clearfield, Regina Gettig of Boalsburg, Darlene Newman of Gettysburg, and Carolyn Waldman of Piscataway, NJ; and 6 nephews and 4 nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil P. Lingerski whom she wed April 25, 1997 in Hanover and a brother Robert Beauseigneur.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Frenchville on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Samuel G. Bungo as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Saint Mary of the Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Frenchville.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and on Thursday from 9:30-10:00 AM.
A Christian Vigil Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30 PM.
