Earl Harley

November 18, 1941 — March 25, 2009

Earl McHenry "Mac" Harley, 67 of Woodland passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Elk Regional Health Center, St. Mary's, PA.

He was born on November 18, 1941 in Clearfield. He was the second child and first son of Edward H. and Genevieve (McHenry) Harley.

He graduated from the St. Francis School and received a bachelor degree in history from St. Francis College, Loretto. Mr. Harley also did graduate work in history at the Pennsylvania State University. Earl taught school at the Cresson State School for many years before moving to Saskatchewan, Canada working as an Indian Agent for the Canadian Government and living on a Cree Reservation. Mr. Harley relocated to Tiller, Arkansas where he was director of Mink Track Farms, a private hunting preserve. Mac returned to the Clearfield area and worked with social service agencies, working with children.

Mac was a true outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing all of his life. In his recent position, his work with special needs children was pursued with passion and compassion for his clients. His death occurred while on a field trip with students to the elk herds in Elk County.

Mr. Harley was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by a sister,
Mary Rebecca Harley of Harrisburg

three brothers,
Mark E. Harley
Michael R. Harley
Timothy F. Harley all of Clearfield

and his cousin,
Dave Rockey of Clearfield

He will be sadly missed by his sister and brothers, his sister-in-law, Carol Harley, his niece Yvonne Harley Lehman and her family, and Fred Lehman and daughter Jordan Lehman.

At the request of Mr. Harley, there will be no public funeral services.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday, March 27, 2009 from 5-8 PM.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice with regards to outdoors conservation or special needs children.
