Edith Hastings

Edith Brown Hastings, 98, of Clearfield died on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the Clearfield Hospital.

She was born on July 16, 1915 in South Avis, a daughter of the late George Scott and Lou Violet (Carnahan) Brown.

Mrs. Hastings retired as a registered nurse from the Clearfield Hospital in 1982 after 25 years of employment.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield as well as a member of the Clearfield Nurse's Alumni Association.

She is survived by two children, Robert Daniel Hastings and wife Barbara of TX and Evelyn Louise Schwartz of MA; six grandchildren, Scott, Todd, Mark, Kurt, and Sean Hastings and Melissa Martin and husband Jim; five great grandchildren, Jayme, Sabrina and Dannan Martin and Lindsay and Tyler Hastings; a sister, Louise Hill of Jersey Shore; a sister-in-law, Joan Brown of Jersey Shore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Hastings in 1986 and whom she wed April 9, 1937 in Clearfield. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, George, Joseph and William Brown; and a sister Nancy Travis.

A memorial service will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday at 11 AM.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 10-11 AM.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Clearfield Hospital Nurses Alumni Fund, 612 Arnold Avenue, Clearfield or the St. John Lutheran Church, PO Box 1545, Clearfield.
