Edith Rose Mackereth, 83, of Woodland died on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at her home.
She was born on December 13, 1938 in Runville, PA, a daughter of the late Merrill and Ruth (Beirly) Watson.
Mrs. Mackereth was a longtime member of The Presbyterian Church, Clearfield and absolutely loved going to church and Sunday School. She was very involved in numerous aspects in the church including teaching Sunday School and playing the organ. Mrs. Mackereth was a member of two different bible studies and was the leader and always involved with the church prayer chain. For a number of years, she organized and was in charge of the church newsletter. Mrs. Mackereth volunteered with vacation bible schools at other churches as well as playing the organ at Ridgeview and Mountain Laurel Nursing Home. In her spare time, she could be found tending her flower garden, knitting, crocheting, canning or sewing. She was an avid reader and loved to collect books. Mrs. Mackereth was loyal to the mantra of 'Faith, Family and Friends'.
She is survived by her husband, William J. Mackereth of Woodland; three children, James W. Mackereth and wife Barbara of Bellmeade, Elizabeth R. Schenk of New Kensington, and Susan L. Porter and husband Chris of Warrington; six grandchildren, Nathaniel Mackereth, Matthew Mackereth, Katherine Leigey and husband Robert, Andrew Gormont, Lauren McGinley and husband Mike, and Colin Porter; and a great granddaughter, Hannah Leigey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Emerson; and six brothers, Dave, Albert, James, Pete, Walter and Tom Watson.
Funeral services will be held at The Presbyterian Church, Clearfield, on Monday at 12 PM with Rev. Jimmy Hopper officiating. Interment will be private in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.
Friends will be received at the church on Monday from 10 AM until the time of service at noon.
