Edith Spagnolo

Edith L. Spagnolo, 93, of Clearfield died on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Clearfield Hospital.
She was born on January 28, 1918 in Curwensville, a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Carfley) Tagliaferri.

Mrs. Spagnolo was a homemaker and also was employed by the Clearfield School District where she worked in the cafeteria. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield. Mrs. Spagnolo was also a member of the Sons of Italy Lodge No. 189, Clearfield and the Martha Washington Lodge #1525.

She will be remembered for her love of baking cookies for everyone to enjoy and her strong faith and belief in the power of prayer. Mrs. Spagnolo also enjoyed making afghan blankets and made certain that everyone in the family had one to keep.

She is survived by two children, Dennis A. Spagnolo of Erie and Mary Jo Seprish and husband Robert of Morrisdale; four grandchildren, Stacy Ricciotti and husband Darin, Scott Seprish, Michael and Daniel Spagnolo; two great grandchildren, Anastasia Ricciotti and Benjamin Spagnolo; a sister, Angeline Kramer of Curwensville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony J. 'Spag' Spagnolo on October 12, 2008 and whom she married August 16, 1947 at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Curwensville; two brothers and a sister, Thomas, Jr. and Louie Tagliaferri and Irene Petracca; and three infant siblings.

Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Monday at 10:00 A.M. with Msgr. Henry L. Krebs as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Sunday from 1-4:00 PM and on Monday from 9-9:30 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Saint Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 South Front Street, Clearfield.
