Edna Scogg Kantar, beloved wife of the late Leonard Kantar, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 13, 2006, in Rocky Hill, CT, with her daughter at her side. Formerly of Curwensville, she moved to Connecticut in 2002. Born in Kylertown June 9, 1911, to the late Andrew and Emma (Taylor) Scogg, she grew up in Clearfield, the youngest of five children. A proud veteran of WWII, having served in the Womens Army Corps, she and Leonard settled in Curwensville in 1945. She was a past member of Temple Beth Shalom and attended the Curwensville Presbyterian Church. She was active in civic affairs, having served as president of the Curwensville Womans Club and on the board of the Childrens Home in Clearfield. She loved to play golf and was a long-time member of the Clearfield-Curwensville Country Club.
A loving wife and mother, she was so very proud of her four grandchildren. She will be remembered for her quick whit, warm smile and fierce devotion to her family. Edna is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Becky and Ronald Basile of Glastonbury, CT; her son and his wife, Irvin and Diane Kantar of St. Augustine, FL; and her beloved grandchildren, Deborah Basile Pohlmann and her husband, Jared, of Evans, GA; Jason Basile and his wife, Allison, of Aiken, SC; Judy and Jared Kantar of St. Augustine, FL.
Mrs. Kantars family would like to thank the staff of the Atrium at Rocky Hill for their extraordinary care and compassion. She was at home and contented in these last four years.
There were no calling hours. Graveside services were held on Wednesday, October 18, 2006, at Crown Crest Memorial Park with the Reverend Daniel Ledford officiating.
