Edward L. Bloom, 91,of Clearfield passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Penn Highlands Clearfield.
He was born on July 3, 1925 in Clearfield, a son of the late Raymond Bloom and Rosella and Kyle Luzier.
Mr. Bloom had been employed by Bell Telephone Co. as an installer. He was also the original founder of 'The Phone Guys' in Clearfield. Mr. Bloom enjoyed being a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #1 for 14 years at West Side United Methodist Church. In his spare time, Mr. Bloom enjoyed watching football, camping and simply going on rides around the area. In his younger years, he enjoyed golfing and then became an avid bowler. He had an affinity for John 'The Duke' Wayne and most enjoyed sitting on his swing on the car port, enjoying the fresh air.
He was a member of West Side United Methodist Church, Clearfield and a life member of the Curwensville VFW #842. Mr. Bloom was also a member of the Clearfield VFW #1785, Free and Accepted Masons Lodge #314 of Clearfield, the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #540 of Clearfield and the Clearfield American Legion Post #6. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Bloom served with the U. S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Avanell (Wink) Bloom; five children Tracey Davis of Clearfield, Brad Bloom and wife Ellen of Orange Park, FL, Terri Kurtz and her companion Randy Wilsoncroft of West Decatur, Andrea Bloom Hockenberry and husband Ed of Curwensville and John Bloom and his companion LeAnne of Macon, GA; five step children, Bonnie Geppert, Rod Boalich, Brad Boalich, Pam Carns all of Clearfield and Krista Frame and husband Gill of Coudersport; nineteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and a brother, Jim Bloom of Lamar.
In addition to his parents and step father, he was preceded in death by his first wife Helen Graham Bloom; a son, Charles Bloom; a step son, Gary Boalich; two grandchildren, Bradley Boalich and Andrew Frame; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday at 11 AM with Rev. Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and on Tuesday from 10-11 AM.
A Masonic Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 6 PM.
