A graduate of Clearfield High School, Betsy spent the next three years at the Clearfield Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in June of 1956. During that time, she met her husband, Ken, and they were married on October 27, 1956. They started their family in December 1957 and shared time with friends, making memories, and traveling to Florida until Ken’s death in March of 1983 at age 51.
Betsy’s love for her family was shared by her many dinner parties at her home for birthdays, Christmas festivities, and special events. Her home is a wonderful reflection of her style, her beauty, her grace, and understated quiet elegance. She filled it with pictures of her family and they always reminded her of the important connections to everyone’s lives. Her Blue Willow china collection and antique copper were points of pride in her decorating. Showing the world her consistent fashion statement, Betsy was most comfortable in her leggings, button-down shirts, and perfect hairstyle with her favorite headbands. Betsy and Ken loved traveling and entertaining with their friends and family. Ken’s brother Maurice and his wife Margie were travel companions and pool-party hosts at their shared backyard oasis. They enjoyed time with many other Clearfield County couples too numerous to mention. Many events were held at the Thunderbird Restaurant where Betsy always enjoyed time with Donnie and his team.
Her time was filled with many moments of friendship, fun, and laughter. She enjoyed taking her kids to Steeler games, Super Bowls, and time with them on the coast of Deerfield Beach. “Card Club” was a regular occurrence, Cold Duck parties at the pool, LMC conventions, and time with her siblings in Clearfield.
Betsy’s strength and love of family was evident at the time of Ken’s passing when the next generation of the Lezzer family joined with Ken’s brother, Maurice, to continue Ken’s vision of growth of Lezzer Lumber to fulfill their wish of a successful family business. Betsy helped in her support of her children, grandchildren, nephews, and nieces as the Lezzer businesses continued to grow to the prominence and success it shows today.
After Ken’s passing, Betsy enjoyed her time with her companion, John Noble of Dubois, and her sister Julia Potts, with trips to Italy, to Florida, and to many special events with their families.
Betsy’s family will welcome visitors at the United Methodist Church, 602 State Street, Curwensville, on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM, at which time a memorial service will be held. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville, next to her husband at a later date.
