Elizabeth Louise ‘Tib’ Smith, 93, of Chestnut Grove, Grampian died on Sunday, December 23, 2007 at Nelson's Golden Years in DuBois.

She was born on August 4, 1914 in Lumber City, a daughter of the late William and Mayme (Wineberg) Hoyt.

Mrs. Smith retired from the Riverside Restaurant in DuBois. She was formerly employed by J. C. Penney and B.F. Goodrich, both in DuBois. During WW II, she was employed in Curwensville making parachutes.
She was a member of the Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, Grampian and the Ladies Bible Class. She also volunteered for the DuBois Regional Medical Center's Maple Avenue Hospital Auxiliary and the Luthersburg Group.

She is survived by two children, Gloria Sue Chelgren of Grampian and Donna King and husband Bob of Houston, TX; two step-children, Barbara Hartzfeld of Margate, FL and Charles Smith and wife Darlene of Falls Creek; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Cecil Dunworth, on August 10, 1952; her second husband, Leland Smith, on December 19, 1993; a son, Kenneth J. Dunworth; and brothers, Wilson, Everett, Carl, Albert, William, David and Pearl Hoyt and Gene Rafferty.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Emmett Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Grampian, RD.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3-8 PM and on Thursday from 9 - 10:00 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of one’s choice.
