Elsie M. Bohlender, 96
formerly of Clearfield and most recently of the Moshannon Valley Presbyterian Home, Philipsburg died on Thursday, February 27, 2003 at the home.
She was born on October 20, 1906 in Venango County, PA, a daughter of the late Lew A. and Lavella (Shreffler) Burkholder.
She attended and graduated from Sandy Lake High School in 1924 and received an AB Degree from Grove City College in 1928.
Mrs. Bohlender taught at the Ashland Consolidated Schools for five years and in the Clearfield High School from 1943 until 1947. She also worked a brief time at the Clearfield Public Library. In 1953 she became the secretary at the Clearfield Presbyterian Church, a position she held until her retirement in 1974.
She is survived by two daughters,

a grandson and four granddaughters,

and 8 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Clifford Bohlender on August 4, 1997 and whom she married June 14, 1933 in Nickelville, Venango Co.
A memorial service will be held in the Simcox Chapel of the Presbyterian Church, Clearfield on Sunday, March 2, 2003 at 3:00 PM with Mr. Richard B. Barkley officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Presbyterian Church, 119 N. Second Street, Clearfield, the Presbyterian Home of Moshannon Valley, 200 Medical Center Drive, Philipsburg, the Presbyterian Home of Moshannon Heights, 200 E. Presqueisle St., Philipsburg.
The Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield is in charge of the arrangements.
