Elsie Smith

July 16, 1924 — August 12, 2022

Elsie Wilna Smith, 98, of Clearfield passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022 at the Knickerbocker Villa, Clearfield. In her last hours she experienced joy and peace because of the love of her family and the expectation of going home to be with Jesus and her loved ones who have passed on.

She was born on July 16, 1924 in Hopewell, a daughter of the late Henry G. and Wilna (Troutman) Theys.

Mrs. Smith graduated from Robertsdale High School and the Warren City Business College. She served with the U. S. Navy during World War II.

She is survived by a son, Terence 'Terry' Lee Smith and wife Constance of Clearfield; grandchildren, Christian Smith, Wendy Thomas, Benjamin Smith, Bethany Smith, Angie Smith, Derek Smith, Nichole Smith; nine great grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Shumaker of Natrona Heights.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles DeHaven Smith on August 21, 2014 and whom she wed June 14, 1947 in Ramey. She was also preceded in death by a son, C. Thomas Smith; two sisters, Alice Abbott and Ruth Chesaro; and a brother, Henry Theys.

A private service will be held with her son, Pastor Terry Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield is in charge of the arrangements.
