Elwood B. McGarvey, 86

of Clearfield died on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at DuBois Regional Medical Center - West.

He was born on November 15, 1917 in Irvona, a son of the late Miles and Anna (Love) McGarvey.

Mr. McGarvey was employed at the former Clearfield Tannery and for 30 years at Rhone Motor Co. He then worked at Automart, retiring in 1982.
He was a volunteer at Clearfield Hospital with over 25 years of service as an escort.
He was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Clearfield and the United Commercial Travelers Philipsburg Council No. 621. He also was a member of the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6 and had served with the US Army during WW II with the medics.

He is survived by three children,
Kathy Rose and husband Robert Oldsmar, FL,
Beth Albert and husband Irwin Shiloh
Ronald McGarvey and wife Georgia Perry, UT

five grandchildren
Dan Rose, Lisa Buchna, Ron McGarvey, Jr., Trisha and Ryan Albert

and 2 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae (McFarland) McGarvey, on November 21, 2001 and whom he married August 10, 1940 in Clearfield and his brother Clair McGarvey.

Memorial services will be held in the Simcox Chapel of The Presbyterian Church Clearfield on Monday at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. Douglas S. Pride and Mr. Richard B. Barkley officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Military honors will be accorded at the church by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Post.

Friend will be received at the church from 10am until the hour of the service.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The Presbyterian Church, 119 North Second Street, Clearfield, PA 16830.
