Ernest A. "Ernie" Rowles, Jr., 73 of Clearfield died on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian Hospital.
He was born on June 18, 1936 in Clearfield, a son of the late Ernest A. Sr. and Bethia (Mitchell) Rowles.
Mr. Rowles was a heavy equipment operator for McDonald Coal Company for 15 years before retiring. Prior to that, he worked in construction for various companies.
He is survived by his wife, Sara A. "Sally" (Hess) Rowles, whom he wed March 19, 1955 in Curwensville,

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Rowles and a grandson, Chad Auwater.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday from 2-4 PM.
At the request from the family, there will be no public services.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 26 S. Second Street, Clearfield PA 16830 or the charity of one's choice,
