Eugene F. ‘Skip’ Howell, Sr., 75
of Clearfield died on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Clearfield Hospital.

He was born on February 2, 1934 in Boardman, a son of the late Paul and Elizabeth (Howell) Rowles.

Mr. Howell retired from Penelec in 1994 after 21 years of service. In addition, he was employed as a charter bus driver for Fullington Bus Company, a van driver for dialysis patients, and a rural newspaper carrier for The Progress.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Curwensville, the Free and Accepted Masons Noble Lodge #480, Curwensville, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union #5 and the Fruit Hill Cemetery Association.

He served in the US Army Reserves.

He is survived by his wife, Velma J. (Thompson) Howell whom he wed January 15, 1955 in Clearfield;
three children, Lucinda Howell-Lee of Curwensville, Eugene Howell, Jr. and wife Gerri of York and Stephen W. Howell and wife Valerie of Dover; eight grandchildren, Daniel Sheridan and wife Jennifer of Clearfield, Rebecca Sheridan of Curwensville, Kristi Howell and Ryan Howell both of York, Caitlin Howell, Jacob Howell, Taylor Howell all of Dover, Bobbi Jo Howell and husband Mike Clearfield, three half brothers and a half sister, Randy Rowles and wife Lenell of OH, Marshall Rowles of VA, John Rowles and wife Anna of VA and Dorothy McKee and husband Donald of VA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Randall L. Howell and two infant grandchildren, Lisa and Eric Sheridan.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with Rev Daniel M. Osterhout officiating. Interment will be in the Fruit Hill Cemetery, Ansonville RD.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Thursday from 6 -8:00 PM.

A Masonic memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 7:30 PM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 312, Curwensville or Fruit Hill Cemetery Chapel Fund, % Kathy Williams, 1529 Ansonville Road, Irvona.
