Florence Lewis

Florence N. Lewis, 87, of Clearfield died on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at Clearfield Colonial Courtyard.

She was born on October 7, 1918 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Ephriam and Kate (Wisor) Davis.

Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker and was employed at the former Leitzinger’s department store and the former K and E Grocery.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Clearfield, where she was a Sunday school teacher and for over 30 years was the church organist. She was also involved in the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. In addition, she was a member of the Jr. Women’s Club, the Sr. Women’s Club and the Clearfield Chapter #379 Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by four children, Charles Lewis, Jr. and his wife Bette of Annapolis, MD, Jeanne Kirkpatrick and her husband Terry of Tumwater, WA, Linda Kicher and her husband Donald of Somerset, and Cinda Robinson and her husband Robert of Sumpter, SC; eight grandchildren, Charles Lewis, III, David Lewis, Donna Miller, Eric Kicher, Kathleen Kirkpatrick, Shelly Wilkerson, Randy Kicher and Nora Aaron; five great grandchildren; a sister and brother, Gladys Shope and Norman Davis and his wife Nadine all of Clearfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. 'Chuck' Lewis, Sr., on August 5, 2001 and whom she married August 17, 1936 in New York, three sisters, Mona, Vandla and Kathryn and six brothers James, Rexal, Robert, John, Elmer and Groff.

Funeral services will be held at the Christ United Methodist Church, Clearfield on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Rodger J. Gorton officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Christ United Methodist Church, 705 Dorey Street, Clearfield or to the Clearfield Foundation for Health – Hospice, PO Box 992, Clearfield.
