Francis David "Red" Maines, 80

of Grampian, formerly of Clearfield, died on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at his residence.
He was born on October 6, 1927 in Woodland, a son of the late David A. and Fama Mae (Lansberry) Maines.

Mr. Maines was employed as a superintendent at the Glen Gery Brickyard in Clearfield for over 30 years. He also previously worked on the railroad in Clearfield.
He was protestant by faith.
He was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Curwensville Loyal Order of Moose. He was also a member of the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post 6, the Curwensville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 842, the Mosquito Creek Sportsmen's Association and the Pennsylvania Association of Sheriff's.
A veteran of the US Navy, he served during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Belle (Timblin) Maines, whom he wed July 23, 1948 in Woodland, three children, Gloria Gallaher and husband Roger of Mineral Springs, Gail Sloppy of Grampian, Glenna Jones and husband Butch of Philadelphia, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three sisters, Betty Maines of Woodland, Rebecca Pearl Luzier of Woodland, Mary Miller of Drifting and one half sister, Tammy Wallace of Clearfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Gwen Frances Maines, a brother, Frederick Maines and a sister, Avanell Joann Hullihen.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Stanley Wisor officiating. Interment will be in the Stoneville Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8:00 PM and on Friday from
10-11:00 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to DuBois Hospice, 90 Beaver Drive, DuBois PA, 15801.
