Francis Rodney Raymond, 95, of Lanse, passed peacefully at Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg on March 20, 2024. Francis was a dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was born to the late Rodney and Lucy (Nashwinter) Raymond on December 16, 1928 in Williamsport. On October 22, 1955 he married Catherine Margaret Alexander at St. Severin Roman Catholic Church in Drifting. Together, they had six children. Francis drove a coal truck for most of his life and was a veteran of the Army. In addition to trucking, he worked at Piper Aircraft, at Kylertown Truckstop, at Fayette, a windmill factory, and various other short term jobs. Francis also loved woodworking and was an avid gardener. He enjoyed his two special friends, his cats, Lucky and Henry.
Francis is survived by five children, Chris Bell (Bob) of Frenchville, Sandy Plubell of Frenchville, Annette Estright (Andy) of Frenchville, Francis Raymond (Mary Anne) of Snow Shoe, and Jim Raymond (Lisa) of North East, MD. Francis is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Ashley Marks (Kyle), Donald Marks (Mike), Rob Bell (Kasia), Teri Scholl (Gregg), Michael Plubell (Shanna), Michelle McManus (Ryan), Juliana Cole (Larry), Justin Raymond (Susan), Jenna Meyer (Brad), James Raymond, and Jessica Raymond, as well as nine great-grandchildren, Cameron Yancey, Hadley and Carlie Scholl, Skylar Plubell, Avery and Dominic Cole, and Archer, Violet, and Ivy Meyer.
Along with his parents, Francis was predeceased by his wife, Catherine, his daughter, Debb Marks and her husband Tom of Scottsdale, AZ, a son-in-law Mike Plubell, his brothers Lester, Robert, and Harold, and his sisters Agnes and Elizabeth. Francis was the last of his generation.
Private services will be arranged by the family.
