Frank J. Guenther, 88 of Clearfield died on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at the Clearfield Hospital.
He was born on March 5, 1920 in Braddock, a son of the late John and Mary (Fischer) Guenther.
Mr. Guenther retired as the manager of inventory control for the Mine Safety Appliance Company, Pittsburgh.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #883 of Braddock. Mr. Guenther was also a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield.
He served with the US Army during World War II having attained the rank of Sergeant.
He is survived by two daughters,

Janet Spahr and husband Rev. John of Meadville

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne T. (Miller) Guenther on May 28, 2005 and whom he wed on April 23, 1949 in East Liberty, and a daughter Mary Jeanne Guenther.
A Memorial Mass will be said at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Samuel G. Bungo as celebrant. Interment will be in the Braddock Catholic Cemetery, Braddock.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 26 S. Second Street, Clearfield, PA 16830
