Frank L. Pontillo, 84
of Clearfield died on Thursday, June 6, 2002 at his residence.
He was born on March 17, 1918 in Clearfield, PA, a son of the late Louis and Maria (Colantuoni) Pontillo.
Mr. Pontillo retired as a foreman from Harbison Walker Refractories after 47 years of service.
He was a graduate of Clearfield High School, a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, the Clearfield Knights of Columbus and the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6. He was a charter member of the Clearfield Little League Association and umpired baseball and softball in the area for thirty years.
He served in the US Army during World War II.
On July 7, 1941 in St. Francis Church, Clearfield he wed his wife, the former Margaret Castagnolo who survives along with two children,

five grandchildren and one great grandchild,
three brothers and three sisters,
Joseph J. Pontillo Houston, TX
Carmen N. Pontillo Bayonne, NJ

Rose Varchetti Meyersdale
Fausta Chillemi Clearfield
Mary Ann Jones Falls Church, VA
and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Vincent E. 'Jimmy' Pontillo.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. with
Rev. Dennis C. Hadberg as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Posts.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday from
2-4 & 7-9 PM.
A Christian Vigil Service will be held at the Funeral home on Friday from afternoon.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield Foundation for Health-Hospice, PO Box 992, Clearfield or to the St. Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 S. Front Street, Clearfield.
