Frank J. Wawrynovic, 87
of 623 Indian Road, Clearfield died on Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at Clearfield Hospital.
He was born on May 26, 1917 in Osceola Mills, PA, a son of the late Anthony and Helen (Sokol) Wawrynovic.
He was a graduate of Osceola Mills High School, class of 1935 and the Pennsylvania State University class of 1950 with a B.S. degree in Forestry and M.S. degree in Wildlife Management. After high school graduation, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corp at Ridgeway and Penfield.
He was a veteran of World War II of the US Army from 1942 -1946. He was a D-Day veteran having landed on Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944 at Normandy, France. As a forward Scout at the German's outer defense positions near St. Lo, he sustained three bullet wounds. He was hospitalized for one and one-half years. For his Army service he received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge and numerous other medals issued by the French Government.
After graduation from the Pennsylvania State University, he worked for Nittany Timberlands, Inc. of State College, PA. In 1968, he owned and operated with his wife, Utilities Forestry Services, Inc. in Clearfield until his retirement in 1997.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, the Knights of Columbus Council #409 and a member of the Clearfield Fourth Degree Assembly; Clearfield American Legion Post #6, Clearfield, the Osceola mills Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5020, the 29th Infantry Division, the Disabled American Veterans and the Society of American Foresters.
He is survived by his wife, Stella (Jedrziewski) Wawrynovic, whom he married October 22, 1949 in Osceola Mills, PA

and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three children John Francis, Barbara Jean and infant son, Peter, two brothers Joseph and Anthony Wawrynovic and sister Ann A. Hefferon.
A public Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee, Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Osceola Mills.
Military respects will be offered at the church by the members of the Clearfield American Legion Post 6 Honor Guard and military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Osceola Mills Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5020.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
