Fred J. Socie, 93, of Clearfield died on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at his home.
He was born on August 18, 1919 in Clearfield, a son of the late Joseph William and Cecelia (Riley) Socie.
Mr. Socie retired from Harbison Walker Refractories, Clearfield after 35 years of service. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield and the Knights of Columbus No. 409 of Clearfield.
A veteran of the US Army, Mr. Socie served during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Carmella (Sorbera) Socie whom he wed October 26, 1963 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Mass of Christian burial will be said at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Saturday at 10 AM with Father Brandon Kleckner as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Military honors will be accorded at cemetery by the Clearfield VFW and American Legion Post's Honor Guards.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday from 5-7 PM and on Saturday from 9-9:30 AM.
A Christian Vigil service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 4:45 PM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 South Front Street, Clearfield or the Clearfield Foundation for Health-Hospice, PO Box 992, Clearfield.
