Frederick Joseph Chucheck, 93 of Clearfield died on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Clearfield Hospital.
He was born on December 31, 1914 in Johnstown, a son of the late Frank and Theresa 'Rosie' (Benchina) Chucheck.
Mr. Chucheck joined the Pennsylvania Electric Co. in 1945 at its Seward Station. In 1954 he transferred to the Shawville Generating Station retiring in 1978 after 33 years of service.
Mr. Chucheck was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II with the 25th Ordinance Maintenance Co. as a staff sergeant in the Southwest Pacific. He received a Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Ribbon, Asiatic Ribbon, a Distinguished Unit Badge for Battle Honors awarded for the East Indies Campaign and Bronze Stars for East Indies Campaign, Papuan Campaign and New Guinea Campaign.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 540, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 814, the Veterans of Foreign Wars F. Michael Sicks Post 1785, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 97 and the American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6, all of Clearfield. He was also a member of the Slovenian Workers Associated Home of Johnstown, a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police Bald Eagle Lodge No. 51 and a former member of the Third Ward Hose Co., Clearfield.
He is survived by two daughters,
Sylvia Kritzer and husband Douglas W. of Morrisdale
Rhonda Voss and husband Edward J. of Clearfield
three grandsons,
Jeffrey Voss of Clearfield
Joseph Voss of Clearfield
Tyler Kritzer of Jacksonville, FL
and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by these brothers and sisters, Frank, Ludwig, Rudolph, Anthony, Olivia and Josephine and two infant sisters, Theresa and Christina.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield at the convenience of the family with Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion Post #6 and the Clearfield Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post #1785 honor guard.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to charity of one's choice.
