Frederick M. Gundel, 73
of 705 West Locust Street, Clearfield died on Friday, August 30, 2002 at Clearfield Hospital.
He was born on December 16, 1928 in Altoona, PA, a son of the late Frederick M. Gundel, Sr. and Anna V. (Musser) Gundel.
Mr. Gundel began his employment with the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1945, continuing with Penn Central and retiring from Conrail in 1989. He had worked as a freight agent in Howard, Woodland, Philipsburg, Curwensville and Clearfield.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and served in the US Army infantry in Japan from 1946 until 1948.
He is survived by three children,

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Patricia (Kratzer) Gundel, on July 13, 2001 and whom he married October 16, 1954 in Altoona, and a brother, Ralph Gundel.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday at 7:00 PM with Rev. Richard B. Cartwright officiating. Interment will be in the Rosehill Cemetery, Altoona.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3- 7:00 PM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to charity of one's choice
