George W. McGonigal, Jr., 57 of Woodland died on Monday, March 2, 2009 at his residence.
He was born on October 7, 1951 in Philipsburg, a son of George W. McGonigal, Sr. of LeContes Mills and Carolyn McGovern of Clearfield.
Mr. McGonigal was employed as a corrections officer with the Department of Corrections for 16 years. Prior to that, he worked at Harbison Walker Refractories for 10 years.
He served in the Army during the Vietnam Era.

three brothers and two sisters,

Margaret 'Peg' Livergood and husband Jim of Shawville
Deb McGonigal of Shawville
and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by a special second family including,
Lois Graham of Woodland
Sharon Walker and husband Bill of New Oxford
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Herman and Magdaline McGovern, his paternal grandparents Roy and Annetta McGonigal, a father-in-law Clair Graham and a brother-in-law James Irvin.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Saturday at 11 AM with Rev. H. Lee Hebel and Chaplin Robert Henry officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Karthaus.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Leigey-Renaud Post 8386 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Frenchville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 PM and on Saturday from 10-11 AM.
