George Rodney 'Rod' Seger, 67, of Curwensville died on Monday, December 14, 2015 at his home.
He was born on June 28, 1948 in Curwensville, a son of the late George Samuel and Shirley (Thomas) Seger.
Rod was most recently employed at Wal-Mart Distribution Center, Woodland and had also been employed at McDonald Land and Mining. Rod loved old cars and going to car shows. He will be fondly remembered for always tinkering with something mechanically and being active outside. He attended the First Baptist Church, Curwensville. A veteran of the US Air Force from 1967-1971, Rod served two deployments during Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Louise (Barrett) Seger whom he wed May 20, 1972 in Ansonville; two children, Courtney Raybuck and husband Dustin of DuBois and Matthew Seger and wife Jackie of Curwensville; three grandchildren Taylor Seger, Lauren Tobias and Alex Raybuck; three sisters and a brother, Carole Tormey and husband Ralph of Limestone, TN, Barbara Lloyd and husband Harley of Erwin, TN, Scott Seger and wife Lorie of Curwensville and Crystal Brunetti and husband John of Olanta.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Seger.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church, Curwensville, on Sunday at 3 PM with Rev. Daniel M. Osterhout officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Sunday from 2:30 PM - 3 PM.
Military honors will be accorded at the church by members of the Clearfield VFW and American Legion Honor Guard.
