Gerald L. Bressler, 90, of Curwensville died on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at his residence.
He was born on April 18, 1919 in Clearfield, a son of the late Willis and Elzada (Ogden) Bressler.
Mr. Bressler retired after 18 years as an iron worker for Local 772 International Association of Bridge Structural & Ornamental Iron Workers. Prior to that, he had been employed by Howes Leather Co., Curwensville and in various coal mines.
A veteran of the US Army, he served during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth A. (Shafer) Bressler, whom he wed August 3, 1940 in Olanta.
He is also survived by seven children, Earl Dean Bressler of Ohio, Elaine Russell of Curwensville, Donald Bressler of Curwensville, Joan Johnson of Oregon, Allen Bressler of Curwensville, Kathy Finkelston of Kansas and Roger Bressler of Curwensville; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mearle Bressler of Olanta and Ardell Bressler of Clearfield; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Mark Bressler, two brothers Willis and Roy Bressler and two sisters Lila Spath and Audrey Brown.
At the request of Mr. Bressler, there will be no public visitation or services. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Clearfield Foundation for Health-Hospice, PO Box 992, Clearfield.
