Gerald J. 'Joe' Wills, 87, of Curwensville died on Monday, October 4, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born on January 5, 1934 in Altoona, a son of the late Robert and Mildred (Cole) Wills.
Mr. Wills graduated from Altoona High School in 1952 and attended Penn State University for two years. He was employed by IBM for 32 years, retiring as a customer engineer. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, waterskiing, boating, travel, baseball, bowling, watching Penn State sports and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
He was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church, Curwensville were he had served as a past president of the Parish Council. Joe was also past president of the Curwensville Civic Center and past president of Curwensville Borough Council.
Joe served with the U. S. Navy Reserves during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Joan (Craig) Wills of Curwensville; four children, Nancy Rowles and husband Randy of Treasure Lake, Barbara Ness and husband Jim of Lake Worth, FL, Jim Wills and wife Sandra of Belville, NC, and Ed Wills and wife Lisa of Winter Springs, FL; six grandchildren, Randy, Tina, Lois, Bridgette, Matt, and TJ; and great grandchildren, Bailey, Riley, Taylor and Jaxson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rachel; and a brother, Bob Wills.
A memorial mass will be said at the St. Timothy Catholic Church, Curwensville, on Friday at 11 AM with Rev. Stephen L. Collins as celebrant.
Friends will be received at the church on Friday from 10-11 AM
