Gladys M. Novey, 95, formerly of Clearfield, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at North Oaks Assisted Living in Pikesville, MD.
Mrs. Novey was born on July 12, 1929, in Harrisburg, the daughter of the late Meyer Marcus and Rebecca Katz Marcus.
Mrs. Novey was a member of the Temple Brit Shalom, State College and former Temple Beth Shalom, Clearfield. She had graduated from Temple University with a degree in Business Administration. She was employed at the Airforce Depot for 10 years before moving to Clearfield. She, along with her husband, owned and operated Novey Recycling since 1962. Her spare time volunteered for many years tutoring at local Adult Literacy Council.
Mrs. Novey is survived by two children, Dr. Martin Novey and wife Amy of Reisterstown, MD, and Alane Seidel and husband Gary of Ellicott City, MD; four grandchildren, Scott Seidel and wife Rani, Taylor Seidel and wife Mary Kate, Luke Connelly and Mackenzie Connelly; one great grandson Keshav and one sister, Gloria M. Grabenstein and husband Daniel.
In addition to her parents, Gladys is preceded in death by her husband, Sol Novey on November 22, 2007; a daughter, Marsha Karen Novey; an infant son; three brothers, Adolph Marcus and wife Ella, Julius Marcus and wife Jean, twin Larry and wife Marlene; and a sister, Sara Kobrin and husband Theodore.
A funeral service will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home & Crematory, Clearfield on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 12:00 PM with Rabbi David Ostrich officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
A visitation will be held on at the funeral home on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 10 AM - 12 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, Mid-State Literacy Council or MADD.
