Gladys M. Springer, 78, of Masontown died on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at the home of her son in West Decatur.
She was born on July 10, 1929 in Masontown, a daughter of the late Harvey and Alice (Darrell) Fike.
Mrs. Springer retired in 1994 from the Borough of Masontown where she was employed as the secretary. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a legal secretary.
A lifelong resident of Masontown, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Masontown and the Teamsters. She was a former member of the Sweet Adelines.
She is survived by a son, Gary A. Springer and companion Michelene Beres of West Decatur, two grandsons, Gary A. Springer, Jr. of Clearfield, Timothy J. Springer of Philadelphia, a sister and a brother, Violet Snyder of Masontown and Lawrence Fike of Tacoma, WA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Springer on December 25, 1974 and whom she married in 1949 in Winchester, VA.
She was also preceded in death by a sister Alberta Susie Kilo and brothers, William 'Billy' Fike and James Fike.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 102 West Church Avenue, Masontown, PA 15461 on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. Interment and committal services will be held at the Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA on Monday March 3, 2008 at 10:00 AM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 26 S. Second Street, Clearfield PA 16830.
