Golda Belle Shaffner, 86
of Clearfield and Rockton died on Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at Marion Manor II in Curwensville.
She was born on February 14, 1917 in Tyrone, PA, a daughter of the late John Thomas and Nora Nancy (Biddle) Spicer.
Golda was graduated from the State College High School in the class of 1936. She came to Clearfield to attend the Clearfield Hospital School of Nursing and was graduated as a registered nurse with the class of 1940.
She met and married Walter Paul Shaffner in St. John's Lutheran Church by Rev. Houser on July 11, 1941. They made their home in Clearfield and Golda worked as a nurse at the Clearfield Hospital, retiring from her position in maternity in 1972.
Golda and Walt raised their family on Mill Road in Clearfield and spent their retirement years at their home on Spruce Hill, Rockton. At the time of her death, Golda was living at Marion Manor II in Curwensville.
She was a member of the Home Camp United Methodist Church.
Her sister, Irene Jury of Mill Hall is her only surviving sibling.
Her late brothers and sisters are William, Lewis, Harold, Fred, Robert, Charles, Carrie, Virginia, Lillian and Florence. She was also preceded in death by her husband on September 3, 2000 and her son Paul W. Shaffner on March 6, 1963.

Dennis and Susan Shaffner
and her grandsons,
Paul Walter and Luke William Shaffner all of Spruce Hill, Rockton.
A memorial service will be held at The Presbyterian Church, Clearfield on Sunday, June 15, 2003 at
1:00 P.M. with Dr. Douglas S. Pride officiating. Interment is in the Mount Joy Cemetery, Clearfield RD.
