Guistino "Moe" DeMatteo, 84 of Clearfield died on Monday, September 29, 2008 at Clearfield Hospital.
He was born on August 9, 1924 in Pottsville, a son of the late Domonic and Assunta (LaSalva) DeMatteo.
Mr. DeMatteo was employed at Target Sportswear as plant manager, retiring in 1990. He also worked at the Body Matrix Gym in Clearfield.
He was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church, Curwensville, the Curwensville Rescue Hose and Ladder Co., the Curwensville Loyal Order of Moose, the Curwensville American Legion Joshua Earl Sipes Post #505, and the Robert Ferguson Post #842 Veterans of Foreign Wars Curwensville. He also belonged to the Clearfield Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #812, the Clearfield Sons of Italy Lodge, the Mosquito Creek Sportsmen's Club and the Sinnamahoning Sportsmen's Club.
Mr. DeMatteo never missed a football game coached by his son, Jacque, in Pittsburgh, and attended all of his grandkids sporting events. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family.
He served in the US Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Penny (Domico) DeMatteo, whom he wed June 29, 1963 in Curwensville, two children that had a dad that all would love to have had and we feel lucky he was ours,

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, a brother and his father-in-law Lyle Domico Sr.
A Memorial Mass will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Thursday at 10:00 AM with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee, Jr. as celebrant.
At the request of Mr. DeMatteo, there will be no public visitation.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Curwensville Midget Football, Clearfield Youth Football Program or to Hampton Football, 4591 School Drive, Allison Park, PA 15101.
