Harold A. 'Bucky' Smeal, 89, of Morrisdale passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at the Penn Highlands Brookville.
He was born on August 19, 1934 in Woodland, a son of the late Howard and Bessie (Green) Smeal.
Bucky worked as an electrician for most of his life. He was employed by Kifer Construction and the Glen Irwin Coal Co. for 20 years.
He was a member of Clearfield Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 812 for over 50 years, where he served as an Officer for many years. He served as President, Treasurer, Trustee, and was on many committees. He played on the softball team, pool team, and was Entertainment Chairman for years. Bucky was awarded plaques for Mr. Eagle of the Year, and Volunteer of the Year. He attended all F.O.E. PA State Conventions and was enrolled in the PA Aerie Hall of Fame, Fraternal Order of Eagles in June 2005. He also attended all F.O.E. district meetings where he was Vice Director and Treasurer.
Mr. Smeal loved his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed taking them on hunting and fishing trips. He was a loving father and grandfather. He was also an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Alice E. (Gill) Smeal whom he wed February 12, 1954 at the Wallaceton Church of God; a son, Harold L. Smeal and wife Tammy of Morrisdale; a daughter, Pamela Foster and husband Mike of Morrisdale; four grandchildren, Tawsha Vaughn and husband Brian, Eric Foster and wife Crystal, Matthew Foster and wife Janelle, and Harold E. Smeal; six great grandchildren, Chase Foster, Gunner Foster, Hunter Foster, Ryder Foster, Quinn Foster, and Ambryn Vaughn; a sister, Barbara Dixon of FL; and two sisters-in-law, Marie Smeal of AZ, and Jane Ann Smeal of FL.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Krysta Lynn Smeal; five sisters, Kathryn Sproat, Norma Vincenyo, Viola Foster, and Margaret Ward, and Adeline Stine ; and three brothers, Howard Smeal, Wilbur Smeal, and John Smeal.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield is in charge of the arrangements.
