Herrald L. "Buck" Bietz, 81, of Curwensville died on Monday, July 3, 2006 at DuBois Regional Medical Center - West.
He was born on December 18, 1924 in Pike Township, PA, a son of the late Luther and Malista M. (Haag) Bietz.
Mr. Bietz retired in 1989 after 9 years of service as a mechanic with Al Hamilton Contracting. Prior to that, he was employed for 29 years as an auto mechanic from the former Fred Diehl Motors, Clearfield.
He was a member of the Curwensville Presbyterian Church.
A veteran of WWII, Mr. Bietz served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a member of the 446 Bomb Group Association. He was also a member of the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6, and the Disabled American Veterans Post #65.
He is survived by his wife, Anna M. (Wink) Bietz, whom he wed December 8, 1951 in Curwensville; a son, Roger Bietz and his wife, Janet, of Curwensville; three grandchildren, Camille Luzier and husband Tim, Melanie Dotts and husband Nathan and Jennifer Bietz; four great grandchildren; a sister, Lila Smith and husband William of Chester Spring; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Irvin, Joseph and Charles Bietz and two sisters, Mildred Bauman and Edith Williams.
Memorial services will be held at Curwensville Presbyterian Church on Friday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Daniel T. Ledford officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Clearfield American Legion post #6 and Clearfield VFW Post #1785 honor guard.
Friends will be received at the church on Thursday from 7-9:00 PM and 9-11AM on Friday.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Curwensville Presbyterian Church, 430 Locust Street, Curwensville, the American Heart Association, PO Box 92, Clearfield, the American Cancer Society, 119 E. Market Street, Clearfield or to the charity of ones choice.
