Hugh Shaw

Hugh Alan Shaw, 93, of Clearfield passed away on December 28, 2024, at Penn Highlands DuBois.

Hugh was born March 31, 1931 in Girard Township, the son of James and Carrie (Edwards) Shaw.

He was a member of the West Side Church of Christ in Clearfield and Goshen Township Sportsmen's Association.

Mr. Shaw served with both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He enjoyed working as a heavy equipment operator for many years and was co-owner of Shaw's Grocery and Gas in Shawville. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and with his family.

Hugh is survived by his wife Judith Shaw whom he wed July 3, 1965; four children, Cheryl (William) Hirschbeck of Broomfield, CO, Lonnie (Daniel) Bell of Clearfield, Randy Shaw of Mechanicsburg, and Eric (Tracy) Shaw of Exton; ten grandchildren, Erin (Jon) Mallonee, Matthew (Amy) Hirschbeck, Curtis (Samantha) Bell, Craig Bell, Jason (Amanda) Bell, Ryan Shaw, Braden Shaw, Emma Shaw, Haley Shaw, and Luke Shaw; three great-grandchildren, Mack Mallonee, Sydney Hirschbeck, and Hughy Hirschbeck who was named after his great-grandfather; a sister, Bernice Collins; and many nieces and nephews.

Hugh is preceded in death by father, James Shaw; mother, Carrie Shaw; siblings, Helen Mellott, Keith Shaw, Rex Shaw, Lee Shaw,Dean Shaw, Guy Shaw, and Aggie Vanderburgh.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
