Hughy A. Hoover, 96, of Curwensville died on Monday, October 10, 2022 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
He was born on July 1, 1926 in Clearfield, a son of the late William and Elizabeth (Deemer) Hoover.
Mr. Hoover attended Curwensville schools. He retired from Lezzer Lumber and had previously been a supervisor of Pike Township and had also worked as a painter with his brothers. Mr. Hoover was very proud of his military service in the Navy during World War II. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and had a real love for fishing.
Mr. Hoover is survived by his children, Charles Hoover and wife Susan of Clearfield, Valerie Ireland and husband Michael of Curwensville; four grandchildren, Cory Hoover and wife Megan, Kristy Strishock and husband Mark, Angela Ireland and fiance Jesse Mullins, and Michael Ireland and wife Joy; nine great grandchildren, Jasa, Jayden and Jakob Strishock, and Jaelynn, David, and Alessia Ireland, and Jackson, Grace and Emmett Hoover; a sister, Elsie Riddle of Curwensville; and three brothers, Jeff Hoover of Curwensville, Dick Hoover of Curwensville, and Roy Hoover of Allentown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris J. (Spencer) Hoover on October 20, 2015 and whom he wed September 22, 1952. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Teresa and Rachel; and three brothers, Fred, Ike, and Jim.
Funeral services will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Curwensville on Thursday at 1:00 pm with Pastor Scott Schultz officiating. Interment will follow in the Bloomington Cemetery, Curwensville.
Military honors will be accorded at cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 AM - 1 PM.
