J. Barrett

J. Maurice Barrett, 91 most recently of Treasure Lake, DuBois and formerly of Curwensville died on Friday, April 16, 2010 at DuBois Regional Medical Center - West.

He was born on December 11, 1918 in Faunce, a son of the late Ai and Ethel M. (Merrell) Barrett.

Mr. Barrett was the co-owner of Barrett Tire Service, Curwensville for many years.
He was a member of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Curwensville, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, treasurer and as a church elder.

He is survived by three children; Ruth Wohlberg of Treasure Lake, DuBois, A. LaRue Mullins and husband Rev. William of Northern Cambria and David Barrett and wife Charlotte of Duncannon; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great great grandsons; two sisters and two brothers, Edith David of Indialantic Beach, FL, Clara Wise of Fullerton, CA, Russell Ardell Barrett of Livingston, TX and Duane Barrett of Livingston, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther R. (Lippert) Barrett on February 15, 2003 and whom he married December 25, 1939 in the Curwensville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church Parsonage, one grandchild, and three brothers, Jack, Merrell and Harry Barrett.

Funeral services will be held at the Curwensville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Stephen D. Shields and Pastor Timothy Connor officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and at the church on Tuesday from 10-11:00 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Great Commission Mission Fund, 815 Susquehanna Avenue, Curwensville and/or 1004 South Main Street, DuBois.
