J. Paul Malloy, 84
of Clearfield died on Friday, July 17, 2009 at DuBois Regional Medical Center - West.
He was born on August 20, 1924 in Clearfield, a son of the late Paul James and Helen M. (Hoover) Malloy.
Mr. Malloy and his wife owned and operated Malloy True Value, Clearfield for 30 years, retiring on October 1, 1986.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Clearfield Council #409, the Clearfield Benevolent Protective Order of Elks #540, and the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6. In addition, he served as a volunteer for the Clearfield Hospital and Clearfield Hospice.
Mr. Malloy served in the US Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Lorna (Miller) Malloy, whom he wed October 26, 1946 at St. Timothy's Roman Catholic Church, Curwensville,
three children, Cheryl M. Dixon and husband Howard of Clearfield, Michael P. Malloy and wife Debra of Clearfield, Daniel J. Malloy of Clearfield,
a daughter-in-law, Traci Malloy of Clearfield,
ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren,
a brother, Thomas H. Malloy and wife Mary of Lancaster,
an aunt and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lucille Daub.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Monday at
10:00 AM with Monsignor H. Desmond McGee, Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and Clearfield VFW Posts honor guard.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Sunday from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 PM.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the St. Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 S. Front St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
