James L. O'Donnell, 85, of Rochester Hills, MI and formerly of Clearfield, died on Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Sanctuary at Bellbrook Skilled Nursing Facility, Rochester Hills.
He was born on January 12, 1925 in Clearfield, a son of the late Terrance 'Terry' and Ida (West) O'Donnell.
Mr. O'Donnell was employed at Clearfield Machine as a young man. He later worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier, retiring after 33 years of service.
Mr. O'Donnell was a founding member of Calvary Independent Bible Church (now Riverview Bible Church) where he served many years as a Deacon and teacher of Adult Bible School. He also taught at the Bible Truth Institute and spoke at regional Bible Conferences.
He served in World War II in the US Army.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene (Hipps) O'Donnell, whom he wed December 24, 1946 in Clearfield; two children, Dennis O'Donnell and wife Laura of Rochester, NY; Janet Wiethorn of Rochester Hills, MI;
a grandson, Thomas 'TJ'; a brother, Joseph 'Joe' O'Donnell and wife Mary of Clearfield; and a sister-in-law, Ester O'Donnell of Vienna, VA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and a sister Preston 'Spud' O'Donnell and Virginia Mullen, and a brother-in-law Clyde Mullen.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday at 1 PM with Pastor Jason Byler officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 PM.
