Janet L. Carns, 77, of Clearfield died on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at her home.

She was born on April 19, 1946 in Clearfield, the middle daughter of the late Cloyd H. and Dorothy B. (Yarger) Rowles.

Janet worked in local offices and then her best job was partner and office worker for David Carns Masonry until they retired. She was a past member of Mt. Joy Church, where she was a past Chairman of the Board. She was also a past member of Clearfield Presbyterian Church, where she had served as deacon.

On June 4, 1966, Janet happily became the wife of David Ashley Carns. They were blessed with two children, Joseph A. (Michele Bowery) Carns and Dorothy C. (Brian) Bowery. In turn, the children blessed them with six grandchildren, Tyler D., Allison L. and Devin A. (Kayleigh) Carns and Christopher D. (Jessica), Aaron M. (Mia Fleming) and Brenna L. Bowery.

Janet is also survived by a brother, William L. (Elaine) of Clearfield; sister, Connie L. Zimmerman (Jonathan) of Brookville, as well as their children. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Sally Wilson (Robert) and Sue Straw (Thomas) and their families.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Tyler David Carns; and her sister, Lillian R. Orris.

A service will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 3 PM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to charity of donors choice.
