Janie Rothrock

Janie Mae (Shimmel) Rothrock went to be with the Lord on November 12th, 2024 at her home in Wallaceton while surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 13th,1939 in Philipsburg and was the daughter of the late Jesse and Jane (Jones) Shimmel. She graduated from the Philipsburg Osceola High School in 1959. In September of 1959, she married George Rothrock who survives in Wallaceton. She retired from Wallaceton-Boggs Elementary School as a cook after 18 years. She was a member of the Wallaceton Church of God where she was a teacher, council member, junior church leader, and VBS leader for many years. Most of all, she loved being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Besides being survived by her best friend and husband, George, she is survived by 6 children: Christle Showers, Joseph and his wife Pam of Wallaceton, Douglas and his wife Mona of Bigler, Georganne Zitsch and husband Ken of Lanse, Missie Parks and husband Dave of Baden, and Mindie Scott and husband Matt of Wallaceton.

The Lord blessed Janie and George with 19 beautiful grandchildren: Mandie Shaw and husband Brad, Prestyn Showers and wife Chelsea, Aaron Rothrock and wife Dawn, Whitnie Socie and husband Jason, Josiah Shimmel and companion Mary, Allan Shimmel and wife Mariah, Jacob Scott and wife Sarah, Nathan Rothrock and wife Evelyn, Daityn Rothrock and wife Jade, Rachel Carolus and husband Alex, Isaac Rothrock and wife Cheyenne, Joel Parks and companion Briana, Kelley Lanning and husband Nate, Julie Stodart and husband Drew, Noah and Jonathan Scott, Kaylianne, Simeon, and Kendra Zitsch.
They were also blessed with 22 beautiful great grandchildren: Scott, Sean, and Katie Shaw; Emmalyn, Brock, and Sadie Showers; Brody and Gavin Rothrock; Tobi, Libbi, Tucker, and Jillian Socie; Mia, Micah, and Luke Shimmel; Jed and Jesse Scott; Asher and Judah Rothrock with their soon-to-be-born brother; and Desmond and Anna Rothrock.

Janie is also survived by two sisters, Irene Greslick and Mary Fetzer of Philipsburg; and one brother, Robert Shimmel of Houtzdale. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved son-in-law Ken Shimmel; her brothers Donald, Ralph, and Marvin; her sisters Betty and Madeline Shimmel, Sally Britton, and Pat Houben; and her Father and Mother-in-law George and Betty Rothrock.

Funeral arrangements are in care of Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory in Clearfield. Viewing will be at the funeral home on Friday, November 15th from 4:00-7:00 PM. There will also be a viewing from 10:00-11:00 AM on Saturday, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM with eulogy by grandson, Daityn Rothrock. Burial will be at Reidy Cemetery in Wallaceton.
