Jessie Sloppy

Jessie L. Sloppy , 95, of Clearfield died on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Clearfield Colonial Courtyard.

She was born on October 6, 1917 in Columbia County, a daughter of the late Edward and Alice (Getty) Leiby.

Mrs. Sloppy was an elementary school teacher in Clearfield for 40 years.
She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield.
Mrs. Sloppy was an avid reader and a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by her husband, Fred E. Sloppy whom she wed in 1937; a son, Richard Sloppy and wife Sandra of New Millport; a daughter-in-law, Connie Sloppy of Erie; four grandchildren, Daniel Sloppy of Erie, Lori Buzzard and husband Don of Erie, Brian Sloppy and Andrew Sloppy, both of New Millport; and four great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jack A. Sloppy and a brother, Ralph Leiby.

A memorial service will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield, on Wednesday at 11:00 am with Rev. Penney Rahm officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.

Friends will be received at the church on Wednesday from 10 - 11:00 am.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, 1 S. Front Street, Clearfield or to theTrinity United Methodist Church, 121 N. Second Street, Clearfield..
