Joan Brett

Joan Elizabeth Lininger Brett passed peacefully July 17, 2023 at Beaver Elder Care Aliquippa, PA.
Born August 8, 1931 to Eva and Russell H. Lininger in Curwensville, PA, she graduated from Carnegie Mellon University and began her Biology and Psychology teaching career at University of Chicago.
She married Dr. George Brett II July 14, 1956. She was a homemaker till 1979 when she returned to her passion of teaching biology and advanced curriculum at Clearfield Middle and High School until her retirement.
Mrs. Brett was extremely involved in the Clearfield community which included the Hospital Auxiliary, Charity Ball, Girl Scouts, PTA, Clearfield Choral Society, Heart Association, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir and served on the Vestry. She thoroughly enjoyed attending Penn State football games and preparing great tailgates for the home games. Sundays would often find her attending Steelers home games. She loved the Broadway Theater including seeing the original cast of “Hello Dolly.” Mrs. Brett was the utmost hostess and lovingly prepared lavish dinner parties for her guests. Lastly, she had a love for animals especially horses and dogs .
Mrs. Brett is survived by her 3 children. Dr. George Brett III and wife Katina of Aliquippa PA, Karen Brett and her partner David Brlzel of Durham, NC and Andrew R. Brett and partner Ryan K. Murphy of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, 5 nieces and 2 nephews.
Mrs. Brett was preceded in death by her husband Dr. George Brett II, daughter Kathleen Wheeler, brother Richard L. Lininger and granddaughter, Crista Wojcik.
A memorial service will be held at the St. Andrew Episcopal Church, Clearfield on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 11 AM with Rev. William J. Ellis officiating.
