Joanne Greendoner

Joanne Coleen Greendoner, 49, of Curwensville died on Monday, April 24, 2023 at her home in Curwensville.

She was born on April 24, 1974 in Clearfield, a daughter of Kinley A. Greendoner Jr. and Carol (Woodel) Greendoner. Despite being a teen mom, Joanne graduated from Curwensville Area High School with honors. She went onto Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she graduated Summa Cum Laude, while still caring for two young children and a baby on the way.

After getting her bachelors degree in special education, Joanne began her career working at the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center where she touched the lives of many of her coworkers and especially her students.

Joanne liked to read, color, and she recently became a collector of tiny things. She loved butterflies and the color purple. She enjoyed snacks and all dessert foods, but most of all she was a cereal connoisseur. She found happiness in music and was always playing songs for family and friends.

Joanne had many friends from all walks of life and she cherished all of them deeply. She would do anything to help a friend, and she showed that time and time again.

Not only did she cherish her friends, but she loved her family and especially her children more than anything. Her daughters will truly miss her beyond words.

Joanne’s life was far from easy. She did not deserve the obstacles life constantly threw at her, but she still fought through them time and time again. She is at peace now, free from her demons and free of pain.

She is survived by her mother, Carol Greendoner of Curwensville; four children, Jonna (Nick) Garcia of Coalport, Sami Jo McGarry of Curwensville, Chyna (Mason) Confer of Winburne, and Sarah McGarry of Indiana; five grandchildren, Lucas and Felix Garcia, Owen, Kalee and Max Confer; one grand dog, Onyx Elaine; three sisters, Doreen (Mike) Hoover, Jackie (Steve) Allison, and Amanda Greendoner; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her life partner and best friend, Samuel Guy McGarry. She was also preceded in death by maternal grandparents Ralph and Janet Woodel and paternal grandparents Kinley Sr. and Betty Greendoner.

A visitation will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Curwensville on Friday April 28, 2023 from 5-7 pm.
