John F. "Ted" Black, 83 of Clearfield died on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at Altoona Regional Health Care Systems Altoona Hospital Campus.
He was born on September 18, 1921 in Clearfield, a son of the late Earnest Porter and Grace Larue (Carr) Black.
Mr. Black retired from Penelec after 38 years of service.
He was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Clearfield for over 70 years and was also a member and Past Master of the Clearfield Lodge No. 314 of Free and Accepted Masons.
A veteran of the US Army, he served during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Jean (Parker) Black, whom he married August 23, 1946 in The Presbyterian Church, Clearfield, a son, David L. Black and wife Susan of Waldorf, MD, two step-grandchildren and a step great granddaughter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Donovan E. Black and James Black and sisters Florence Peterson and Sara Miles.
Memorial services will be held at the Simcox Chapel in the Presbyterian Church, Clearfield on Sunday at 2:00 PM with Mr. Richard B. Barkley officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The Presbyterian Church, 119 N. Second Street, Clearfield.
