John S. Hryn, 78, of Bloomington Ave., Curwensville died on Friday, November 11, 2005 at Clearfield Hospital.
He was born on January 3, 1927 in DuBois, a son of the late Michael and Mary (Homick) Hryn.
Mr. Hryn retired in 1984 from National Fuel Gas, DuBois. Prior to that, he was employed by B&O Railroad.
He was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church, Curwensville and a life member of the Friendship Hose Company, DuBois.
A veteran of the U.S. Army he served during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary (McKeown) Hryn, whom he married September 7, 1956 in Sykesville, five children, Kirby Hryn and wife Cathy of Clearfield, Patrick Hryn and wife Sandra of Rockton, Mary Susan Hryn of Curwensville, John Hryn and wife Cindy of Grampian and Robert Hryn and wife Cathy of Curwensville; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter, a sister, Mary L. Gaydos and husband Peter of Springfield, VA and one nephew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers Joseph, Michael, Paul and George Hryn and two sisters, Julia Reay and Ann Sedlak.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Curwensville on Monday at 10:00 A.M. with Msgr. Joseph K. Bobal as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Sunday from 6:30-9:00 PM and on Monday from 9-9:30 AM.
At the funeral home on Sunday, the Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM and a Christian Vigil Service will be held at 8:00 PM.
