John Mann

John C. "Ace" Mann, 81, of Clearfield died on Thursday, February 8, 2007 at his residence.

He was born on February 12, 1925 in Clearfield, a son of the late J. Harold and Freda (Peterson) Mann.

Mr. Mann retired after many years of service from the former CIFCO, previously known as Williams and Green. Prior to that, he was employed at D.C. Penoyer Coal Co. as the office manager.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield, the Clearfield Rotary Club and a life member of the Clearfield Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #540.
He served with the US Navy during World War II.
He also served on the National American Legion Staff in the National Emblem Sales Commission. He was the State Chairman of Public Relations, a Past 23rd District Commander and a Past Western Vice-Commander of the American Legion. A 62 year member of the American Legion, he held numerous offices in the American Legion at the post, county, state and national levels.

He is survived by two sisters, Ruth Cameroni of Force and Pauline Kassab of Curwensville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie C. (Williams) Mann on October 8, 1994 and whom he married January 30, 1948 in St. John's Lutheran Church, Clearfield. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, two sisters, Dorothy Heitsenrether and Patricia Shaffer and a brother Thomas Mann.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Matthew C. Holbert officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Posts.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10-11:00 AM

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 217 E. Pine Street, Clearfield or to the American Heart Association, PO Box 92, Clearfield.
