John J. Mitchell, 79
of Philipsburg and formerly of Clearfield died on Saturday, May 29, 2004 at Clearfield Hospital.
He was born on June 23, 1924 in Niles, OH, a son of the late Joseph and Madeline (Ettaro) Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell was a self employed painter.
He was Catholic by faith, served in the Armed Forces and was a drummer.
He is survived by three sisters,

Carmella Carfley Curwensville
Mary Biviano Niles, OH
numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Genevieve Sorbera and three brothers Anthony Mitchell, Frank Mitchell and Sam Mitchell.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Wednesday at
10:00 A.M. with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee, Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday from 7-9:00 PM and on Wednesday from 9-9:30 AM.
A Christian Vigil Service will be held at the Funeral home on Tuesday from 8:30 PM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 119 E. Market Street, Clearfield.
