John Peoples

John M. Peoples Jr., aka “Squeak” or “Pooh Bear” 76, of Clearfield died on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at his home.
He was born on March 5, 1947 in Curwensville, a son of the late John M. Sr. and Dorothy L. (Lash) Peoples.

Mr. Peoples was a 1965 graduate of Curwensville Area High School. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Army Reserves. Upon returning home, he began employment at Lezzer Lumber and worked there until his retirement. He was Catholic by faith, having attended St. Timothy Church in Curwensville. He was an active member of the Curwensville Moose Lodge as well as the Curwensville VFW, where he loved socializing and playing cards with his friends. He had lived with his daughter, Traci, for several years who had served as his caregiver however for the past several years his grandson Curtis was his faithful primary caregiver.

He is survived by three children, Gary Kephart Jr. and wife April of West Decatur, Tammy Clark and husband Steve of Olanta, and Traci Laird and husband Dave of West Decatur; eight grandchildren, Gary III, Joshua, Sam and Cameron Kephart, Joebe Smith, Curtis Owens, and Haley and Ty Laird; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Judy DeCasper of Clearfield; a niece, Kimberly Gearhart; a nephew, Todd DeCasper; and a former spouse, Bonnie (Harzinski) Greene of Clearfield.

There will be a celebration of life held on Friday, February 23, 2024 at the Curwensville VFW from 5:00 - 8:00 PM.

With veteran's needs being special to John's heart, the family asks that memorials be made to the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, 113 North Third Street, Clearfield, PA 16830, and the family will distribute the memorials to help local veterans.
