Mr. Sankey served in the United States Army where he fought in the Korean War.

He was a member of the Goshen United Methodist Church, Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6, and Sparkling Springs Hunting Camp.

John was a life long dairy farmer who owned and operated Sanview Farm in Goshen Township with his wife and son.

Mr. Sankey was involved over the years in the Pennsylvania Farmers Association, Farm Service Agency Board, Goshen Township, and Agway Committee.

He was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the United Electric Co-op for many terms.

John was one of the first farmers in Clearfield County to erect a Harvestore Silo for crop storage. He and Dortha coordinated and hosted the first few harvestore picnics for harvestore owners in Clearfield County.
