Joseph Ferlazzo, 78
of 601 E. 11th Street, Clearfield and formerly of Orlando, FL died on Monday, June 17, 2002 at DuBois Regional Medical Center - West.
He was born on February 16, 1924 in San Giorgio, Italy, a son of the late Natale and Maria (Piti) Ferlazzo.
Mr. Ferlazzo was the co-owner of Continental Meats of Orlando, FL until his retirement. Prior to that, he was employed with Turner and Gee Meats in Orlando.
While serving with the Quartermaster Corps of the US Army during WW II, he sounded taps at the burial of the first American soldiers at the Brookwood American Cemetery in England.
He was catholic by faith.
He is survived by a son,
Nathan Ferlazzo
a grandson and granddaughter,
Matthew and Eryn Ferlazzo all of Orlando
two sisters,
Marie Ferlazzo
Josephine Calapa and husband Joseph all of Clearfield
a niece and nephew
and several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Flora Ferlazzo Buzzanca.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Wednesday at
1:00 P.M. with Rev. Dennis C. Hadberg as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Posts.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Wednesday from
11:30 AM - 12:30 PM.
